The
Essence of Forét
Painting
the scenes that surround her, Forét captures life in the old south exactly as
it was decades ago. Accompanied by
her dog, Forét heads into the wilderness to select the perfect tree stump to
serve as her easel. Now the
magnificent colors of her surroundings can become the finishing touch to these
primitive scenes. Always present are the colors that can only be developed by
real life. Her mood music is the
sound of birds, small animals and the wind whistling through the trees that have
become the walls of her studio. Her
faceless images have transcended time-alive today as they were many years ago.
One thing is certain, whether you like or dislike her work, it will not leave
you emotionless.
Forét
paints her feelings in colors of the moment that reflect her mood.
A true blend of artistic creativity, with nature as the model.
Who
is Forét? What are the emotions
she so sincerely illustrates? What
is her lifestyle that is reflected in her work?
Perhaps
a clue is in the titles to her paintings. Noticeably,
she will repeat a central theme as the mood strikes her.
Forét, lives secluded in a remote, wooded area at the tip of a very
private lake. Her companion is a
loving dog that, with the aid of a humane society, was rescued from an abusive
home.
Many
of Forét’s scenes are painted in the vicinity of this old, nearly
abandoned area. Settled
many years ago, only the remnants of small homesteads remain.
Unlike most artists that can paint only with bright light,
Forét will frequently go into the woods in the pre-dawn hours or at
those fanciful moments just before dark.
Thus, enabling her to capture the colors and shadows that
only these fleeting moments of nature can provide.
Forét’s
originals will soon be available online. Forét however, true to her commitment, is continuing to offer
works at entry level prices. Forét,
who paints only what she feels and sees, therefore cannot accept
commissions.
With
her blend of surrealism and magnificent colors set in a primitive
style, she has become the only regionally recognized primitive artist
to surface in Louisiana in many years.
